Do you need a health check?

It’s common to notice a change in your overall health and brush it aside as something insignificant, but it’s vital you seek professional help when you spot these early signs. Thankfully, there are a range of health checks that can lead you to relevant treatments and solutions.

NHS health check

This is a health check-up for adults in England aged 40 to 74. It’s designed to spot early signs of stroke, kidney disease, heart disease, type 2 diabetes, or dementia. More information on eligibility can be found on the NHS website.

The Wellness Centre

The Wellness Centre was founded and is run by the Croydon BME Forum. Located on the first floor of the Centrale & Whitgift Shopping Centre. The Wellness Centre offers support to BME communities living in South London with their physical and mental health.

They provide health checks as well as their specialist Expert Patients Programme (EPP). This is a free 6-week course (2.5 hours a week) for adults living with one or more long-term health conditions in Croydon. The EPP is designed to support people with managing their conditions.

Vitamins, minerals and nutrients

People with thyroid disease can experience several mental health symptoms. For example, Hypothyroidism can cause similar symptoms to depression e.g., low mood, trouble concentrating, fatigue etc. Your GP can conduct a blood test to check your TSH (thyroid-stimulating hormone) levels.

Side effects of medication
