What employment benefits are available?

There are a range of employment benefits that you could be eligible for. However, we acknowledge that applying for these benefits can be challenging, particularly if you have accessibility requirements. That’s why we’re here to provide support and advice with applications, including online, telephone and face-to-face assessments.

Universal credit

You may be able to get the standard amount of Universal Credit if you are on low income or out of work. Universal Credit also covers the following elements: Housing, Child element and limited capability for work and work-related activity. If you care for a severely disabled person, you may be eligible for an extra amount.

New Style Employment Support Allowance

New Style ESA is a fortnightly payment that can be claimed on its own or at the same time as Universal Credit. It is a contributory benefit.
This means you may be able to get it if you’ve paid or been credited with enough National Insurance contributions in the 2 tax years before the year you’re claiming in.

Housing benefit

You can only apply for housing benefit if you have reached state pension age or you are living in supported, sheltered or temporary housing. Benefit calculators can help you find out the benefits and financial support you are entitled to. The links below will take you to calculators on the Turn2Us website and entitledto.
