📣 QIGONG AT CHWS!
What is Qigong?Â
“Qi” (pronounced chi) means energy/vitality and the quality of mind-body integration. “Gong” means cultivation. Going back thousands of years, Qigong includes slow moving & breathing exercises (Tai chi is a type of Qigong, but with martial arts origin. Qigong has a health & wellbeing origin).
Â
Why do Qigong?Â
Qigong improves health & wellbeing; increases energy and develops awareness. It also helps to reduce stress, improve focus and develop balance. It’s quicker to learn than Tai chi, quicker to give benefits and you need less space, making it easier to do anywhere.
Â
Who is it for?Â
Everyone! Qigong is suitable for all ages, levels of fitness and levels of mobility. No previous experience is needed, just yourself and comfortable clothing with socks/flat shoes for use on a wooden floor.
Â
When are the sessions and where?
Sessions are weekly on Fridays 11am – 12.30pm.
Â
The sessions are held at the Croydon Health and Wellbeing Space in the Whitgift Centre (1 North End, CR0 1TY- next to The Works on the first floor).
Â
What’s the instructor’s background?Â
Andrew started with Aikido, a fast flowing martial art, 30 years ago; Tai chi 20 years ago and focusing on Qigong 10 years ago. He started teaching Qigong at the beginning of the first lockdown in 2020 at the Croydon Buddhist Centre.
